Recording Treff with Adrien Morat

A really great and inspiring presentation by Adrien Morat from France about iron smelting. There were 27 participants from all over Europe and also from Australia and Japan. That's what you call blacksmiths without borders.

Adrien had a short but very clear presentation about the melting of iron in a specific layer furnace. The listening audience hung on Adrien's every word when answering the many questions. When you start, he recommends recording a lot in notes because there is a lot to learn from those experiences.

He gave very practical tips about the supply of oxygen, the air pressure that must be accompanied by this (0,5 psi) and tips for assessing the composition and quality of the melted product (spark-test). Using a double-effect bellow is one of them. The choice of charcoal to be used is one such. Experience shows that this listens very closely.

But more about that in a next presentation.

Enjoy the view of Adrien's February presentation on youtube!
